U.S. Navy Veteran Eric Cullum brings an exciting and fresh perspective to his role at Cisco.

Eric Cullum is not afraid to stand out.

As a six-year United States Navy Combat Veteran, Eric entered the military service directly out of high school. After finishing Active Duty in January 2007, Eric entered the private sector, working for a large Cisco reseller. In February 2015, Eric joined the Cisco team, where he uses his atypical background to bring a diverse perspective to the company.

The 33-year old is the youngest member of his team as well as the most recent hire, but he is not intimidated. Instead he chooses to use his background as an advantage and a chance to bring bold, new ideas to the table. His new energy is a great addition to Cisco. While his path was anything but conventional, Eric is determined to make the most of each day and each opportunity.

"Cisco has invested in me, and in turn I give Cisco everything I have, every day," Eric says. "Cisco's People Deal is just that - centered around people. Cisco's gives me everything and anything I need to be successful. They invest in me not only professionally but also personally."

Eric and his daughters Addalyn and Brynn celebrate his completion of the 2015 Boston Marathon.

"Cisco is ever accepting as a company and willing to take a chance on people," Eric said. "I was hired based solely on my merit. I use that as a daily reminder to never give up, never let complacency set in."

Since joining Cisco, Eric has worked tirelessly to support veterans as head of the Veteran ERO in New England, as well as through work with Habitat for Humanity. Though the father of two young daughters—Addalyn (7) and Brynn (5)—Eric has also found the time to run three marathons to support various charities, including the 2015 Boston Marathon.

With an energy and passion for Cisco and for life that is immediately apparent, Eric truly embodies what it means to go "Faster, Higher, Stronger" to constantly better oneself. With the help and support of Cisco, Eric is currently working towards his associate’s degree.

"The people, culture and attitude at Cisco are contagious," Eric said. "Every day is a challenge and leaves me wanting more. It is humbling and rewarding to be recognized by Cisco, and I will not take this opportunity for granted."
