Music Matters: Cisco and the Good Life Foundation

There's nothing better than doing good while doing something you love. At least that's what Cisco and Grammy-nominated artist OneRepublic believe.

All concert season long, fans across the United States have been logging onto Cisco Wi-Fi at Live Nation amphitheaters to share and celebrate their passion for live music (and of course, for free Wi-Fi). In fact, more than 100,000 fans have logged on so far — and we think that's worth celebrating, in the form of a $100,000 charitable donation.

But let's back up. Cisco and OneRepublic recently announced some exciting news, which we're going to let OneRepublic tell you about:

Amazing Things - OneRepublic

We're thrilled to join OneRepublic in supporting the Grammy Museum. Our partnership will help the museum continue its amazing work to support music education in schools across America. The $100,000 donation, which represents one of the single largest commitments of funds to the Grammy Signature Schools Program, will award $5,000 grants to 20 public high school music education programs in significant need.

What is the state of music education in the United States?
Attendance and graduation rates are higher at schools with music programs.
Cisco and the Good Life Foundation are donating $100,000 to support music education at public high schools with significant need.

Cisco, the Official Wi-Fi and Technology Partner of OneRepublic's Oh My My tour, and the band share a strong belief: Music education is an important component to living a Good Life. Though funding for music programs is consistently in jeopardy, its value is unquestionable.

It's not just a monetary donation. We're also looking to bring digital transformation to the 20 music education programs by enabling each of them with the Cisco Spark collaboration platform. Teachers and students will be able to use the Cisco Spark app to communicate, share and create in the physical classroom — and beyond. Students can collaborate virtually before class even starts and after the end of the school day.
