New Partnership: Cisco Dives into Digitizing Live Concerts

Think about the last time you went to a live concert. While we may have unique favorites when it comes to artists and genres of music, one feeling we all absolutely share is that live music rocks! There’s nothing quite like hanging out with friends as your favorite band arrives on stage, the crowd roars, and almost everyone in the audience raises their mobile device to capture the moment. But, what happens next? Can you share that snap, photo or video?

It should come as no surprise that the ability to share that experience digitally has become exponentially more meaningful for fans, bands/artists and venues. Connections are such an important part of the live concert experience, but it’s often an area in which the reality doesn’t always live up to the expectation.

That is why Cisco and Live Nation—the global leader in live entertainment that every day and night puts on 70 concerts or show all over the world—are embarking on a partnership to truly create the connected live concert experience that we know fans desire. It’s another example of when we securely connect everything, anything becomes possible. With more than 350 sports and entertainment properties around the globe, Cisco has been reshaping the fan experience in the sports industry for years. And now through this partnership, we will work together with Live Nation to make the live music experience more interactive, engaging and instantly shareable than ever before.

It all starts with fast, reliable and secure connectivity—which is why Cisco Connected Stadium Wi-Fi is now available in 10 outdoor amphitheaters and will be installed in another 20 by the summer of 2017. And this is only the beginning.

We’ve got some exciting global announcements and activations planned over the next year that will solve real, live concert challenges through technology and showcase how Cisco is helping to digitize the industry. This is a big foray into the live entertainment space, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with our employees around the world.

Throughout the coming months and years of this partnership, there will be exclusive and unique opportunities for Cisco employees around the world to get involved and truly feel the impact of this transformation, and experience how Cisco is enhancing the fan experience firsthand. (Not to mention thousands of tickets we’ll be giving away through a variety of fun contests, sales incentives, recognition awards and raffles—more information and a global Spark community to come soon!)

We kicked off the partnership last month with a successful activation at Shoreline Amphitheatre, a Live Nation concert venue Cisco had connected in the San Jose area, where Cisco customers and VIPs enjoyed a private jam session conducted over TelePresence with Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker. A great time was had by all, with much excitement around further demonstrating how Cisco technology can power artists, concerts and fan experiences.

In the near term, stay tuned for an exciting announcement about an artist tour we will help power as part of this Live Nation partnership! There truly has never been a better time to help elevate and transform the live concert experience.
