Faster, Higher, Stronger: Meet Carolina Barnabe

Carolina Barnabe · Territory Business Manager · Brazil

Carolina's competitive swimming career taught her the importance of always striving towards a personal goal to be ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger.'

For Carolina Barnabe, the impact of her competitive swimming career reaches far beyond the results she achieved in the pool. She applies the discipline she learned to her pursuit of being the best possible representative of Our People Deal and the Olympic motto.

"I apply Our People Deal and Olympic motto ideals to all my daily activities," Carolina says. "No matter if it is maintaining ethics at work, or looking out for and working together with my peers and managers, it is the small, routine activities that shine through in the end."

A high-level swimmer as a teenager, Carolina learned the importance of competition not just against others, but against oneself. A race only has one winner, but the importance of setting and striving for personal goals has stayed with Carolina throughout her life.

"Of course it’s good to win, but the most important thing is continually improving yourself," Carolina says. "Focus on being faster, higher, stronger, no matter if you are Usain Bolt, Michael Phelps, or that eighth runner up."

In her two years at Cisco, Carolina has exemplified Our People Deal values and embraced the opportunity to meet and connect with people from all over the world.

Currently working as a Territory Business Manager in Rio de Janiero, Carolina joined Cisco straight out of university after having lived abroad in Japan. She has found a workplace where the corporate values align with her personal mantra.

"In my experience, almost everybody can tell one big hero tale," Carolina says. "In the end, the small actions we do every day speak louder to who we truly are. If we keep in mind we must do the right thing, we will already be changing the world."

During her two years at Cisco, Carolina has embraced the opportunity to meet people from all over the world and help them connect to each other. "Everybody has the chance to better themselves," she says, "that is the spirit of Cisco, and that’s how I live my life."
